January 2022

Kingsbridge Farmer’s Market
15th January – 9am to 1pm
Showcasing some of the beautiful local produce, crafts and vegetation that Kingsbridge has to offer; this farmers market is perfect for all ages. So for a bite to eat and something to take away with you, come down to Kingsbridge Town Square on the 15th of January between 9am and 1pm.

Dartmoor Whisky Tasting Experience - Bovey Tracey
5th/12th/19th/26th February 2022 | 13:00 – 14:00 each day
Dartmoor Whisky Distillery are holding a whisky tasting experience where you can learn how a single malt whisky is produced – from barley to bottle. On the day, you’ll be greeted by the distillery owner or one of the team. You’ll be shown a 30-minute video which will guide you through the full history of the distillery and will also explain the full distilling process and how their whisky is made.
You will then have the opportunity to sample three of their single malt expressions with a guided taste test.

Antique & Vintage Home Show- Westpoint Exeter
12th February 2022 – 13th February 2022 | 10am-5pm
With up to 400 stands from all around the UK offering a large range of antiques, collectables, and other vintage wares, the fair is likely to have something that will be of interest. With experts and dealers from all over the UK attending, there will be a huge collection which will include, glassware, porcelain, vintage clothing, toys, furniture, and other collectables. Entry for adults is £5.00 and for children under 16 is free.

Kents Cavern Prehistoric Caves – Stone Age Fun
February 19th February – 27th February
Explore Kents Cavern in Torquay and find out how they were home to at least three different species of humans, who all shared the cave and the surrounding area with animals such as woolly mammoths, bears, and much more.
Learn about our prehistoric ancestors, how they lived in the Stone Age and what life was like for them. This really is a perfect half-term activity.

Guided Bird-Watching Cruise
1st/2nd/15th/16th March 2022 | Times available on website.
If you have an interest in the birds that migrate to the area during the Autumn and Winter months, this guided bird-watching cruise is the perfect day out.
The cruise will have full commentary from ornithologists throughout, which will help you to get a better understanding of the species and behaviours of the birds in the Exe Estuary. Suitable for all abilities and beginner-friendly.

South Devon Railway - Buckfastleigh

Have a ride on the long-established steam railway in the South West. Trains run along a former Great Western Railway line, built in 1872, which stretches 7 miles. A wonderful day out for the family and people of all ages. This all-weather attraction is sure to be a memorable day.
Located just off the A38 at Buckfastleigh, which is around 22 miles from Exeter.

Bear Trail - Cullompton
Reopening April 2022 | 10am – 1pm & 2pm – 5pm
An assault course experience for all ages and abilities, will be reopening in April of this year with some exciting new obstacles.
With 30 obstacles and lots of mud, this is Devon’s muddiest family assault course. With zip wires, tunnels and bear nets, this award-winning attraction is set on a 10 acre site, with a café to eat and relax after an active day.

Easter Egg Hunt - Buckland Abbey
Monday 29th March- Monday 3rd May
An Easter Egg Hunt is a great way to spend time with the family over the Easter weekend (15th April – 18th April). Search around the Abbey gardens and see if you can find all the hidden eggs. The cost of entry is £3 including a chocolate egg, with alternative prizes available. Booking in advance is highly recommended to avoid disappointment.

Gangsta Granny – Live on Stage | Exeter Northcott Theatre
21st April – 24 April
Gangsta Granny is the award-winning West End production of the story by David Walliams. David has quickly become one of the UK’s best-selling authors for children and his books are well known to families up and down the country.
When Ben goes to stay with his grandmother, he prepares himself for a very boring time. What he doesn’t know, however, is that his granny has a secret – maybe things won’t be so boring after all.

Dart Music Festival | Dartmouth Town Centre

Now in its 23rd year, Dart Music Festival makes its annual return. Running over three days, with multiple indoor and outdoor venues, the music festival showcases over 100, performances covering all music genres.

Horrible Histories – Barmy Britain | Exeter Northcott
21st May – 23rd May
The much-loved Horrible Histories is coming to Exeter Northcott for an indoor event. Hear stories about figures from Britain’s past and all the things they got up to. It’s a horrible history of Britain, nasty bits included – entertaining for all the family.

English Riviera Airshow | Paignton
4th June – 5th June
With an action-packed weekend, the English Riviera Air show is making its return this year. With displays from The Typhoon Display Team, an appearance from the Red Arrows and lots more activities, there really is something for everyone.

Devon County Show – Clyst St Mary
30th June – 2nd July
With over 100 rare breeds of animals, a food fair, children’s garden and a horse jumping show, there’s lots going on. With a long history dating back to 1872 and attracting thousands of visitors, it would be a shame to miss this great annual event.

Sidmouth Folk Festival – Sidmouth
30th June – 2nd July
If you’re a fan of folk music, you should attend the Sidmouth Folk Festival. Listen to live music, hear storytelling, and take part in some of the workshops being held. There is even a children’s festival on-site, so even your little ones can have an excellent time too.

Salcombe Regatta – Sidmouth
30th July – 6th August
Taking place in picturesque Salcombe, watch and cheer the boats as they sail past, in a display that is sure to be memorable. Make yourself a picnic, find a good viewing spot and enjoy the event.
